See How These Kids Helped the World During Covid-19
From 6-year-old Saira in India to 14-year-old Rasheed in Bangladesh, here are some kids that did remarkable things during the pandemic in 2020
Do you remember 2020? The year of Covid-19. The year when you couldn’t go to school. The year when you were indoors all day. The year when dad and mom did not allow you to visit your friends. Do you remember how you wanted everything to return to normal?
Do you know that several kids helped the world during that time? Just like you, they wanted the world to return to normal. So in their own little way, they spread hope, love and joy and helped people know what to do during the lockdown.
Let’s see some of these kids.
Saira
6-year-old Saira started a video diary and made a video showing the world what she does during the lockdown. Together with her sister, she showed how to wash hands properly to avoid spreading germs. The video has been watched 54 million times.
Huzair Awan
The second kid we will talk about is Huzair Awan, who lives in Pakistan. Huzair was 13 years old when the world went on lockdown, and what he was most concerned about were the street dogs that had no food to eat.
Do you want to guess what he did?
Huzair and his dog, Charlie, became partners with UNICEF, and they made a video where he asked people to show love to street dogs and feed them whenever they could. According to UNICEF, Huzair’s video has over 2 million views.
Huzair also made another short video encouraging Pakistanis to stay strong in the pandemic.
Hinna Asefi
When Muslims couldn’t celebrate Eid Fitr because of the lockdown, 16-year-old Hinna Asefi Wardak, a Youth Goodwill Ambassador, did something remarkable.
He joined hands with 19-year-old Ismail Khan and made a video where they wished people in Afghanistan a happy celebration and encouraged them to follow the rules.
The video made people in Afghanistan happy, as they realised that they were other people just like them trying to survive.
Rasheed
In Bangladesh, 14-year-old Rasheed made a video diary from Cox's Bazar. Cox's Bazar is one of the largest refugee camps in the world. What he did in the video was to show people how he survived during the Covid-19.
He shared the importance of wearing face masks, obeying social distancing rules and showed them six easy steps to wash their hands properly.
With enough educational value, his video has been watched 2.7 million times.

You too can be like Saira, Huzair, Hinna and Rasheed. While we don’t want another lockdown, you can think up ways to help people in your community and in the world. Always remember that you are not too young to offer value to the world.
